The new YCT test was launched by Hanban in an effort to encourage foreign young students to learn Chinese and improve their Chinese language proficiency. As part of this effort, since 2004 Hanban has organized experts from different disciplines such as Chinese language teaching, linguistics, psychology and educational measurement to work on the program, conducting surveys in order to understand the latest trends in overseas Chinese language teaching and learning.
You are welcomed to register in the YCT test, which to be held in Padova on 24 May, 2014. The registration deadline for this test is 23, April, 2014.
Applicants may choose the level you prefer to attend according to your level of Chinese proficiency. The following introduce of the four levels of pen test and two levels of speaking test for reference.
The YCT (Level I) is intended for young students who have studied Chinese for three months, with 2-3 class hours per week. These students have mastered 80 commonly used words and related grammar patterns.
The YCT (Level II) is intended for young students who have studied Chinese for a semester (half an academic year), with 2-3 class hours per week. These students have mastered 150 commonly used words and related grammar patterns.
The YCT (Level III) is intended for young students who have studied Chinese for two semesters (one academic year), with 2-3 class hours per week. These students have mastered 300 common words and related grammar patterns.
The YCT (Level V) is intended for young students who have studied Chinese for more than two semesters, with 2-3 class hours per week. These students have mastered 600 commonly used words and related grammar patterns.
The YCT Speaking Test (Beginner Level) is intended for young students who have studied Chinese for 1-2 semesters, with 2-3 class hours per week. These students have mastered 200 commonly used words and related grammar patterns.
The YCT (Intermediate Level) is intended for young students who have studied Chinese for more than two semesters, with 2-3 class hours per week. These students have mastered 400 commonly used words and related grammar patterns.

To register:
1. Log on at www.chinesetest.cn;
2. Choose the test center—Confucius Institute at the University of Padua;
3. Fill in your personal information for registration, and submit when it is confirmed completely and correctly;
4. Please remember to submit your photo.
4. The registration deadline is 23, April, 2014 (Beijing time 12:00)
To pay the Test Fee:
Once online registration is completed, please pay the test fee at the Confucius Institute at the University of Padua before 27, April. Please come at 10am-12am, 14:30pm-17:00pm on weekdays. The address is: Via Beato Pellegrino 28, Padova. The registration will be validated upon payment.
